On its own, tofu doesn’t have much character, but that only means it’s a palette ripe for seasoning. This simple recipe uses the sweet and savory flavors of soy sauce and orange marmalade to make a deliciously sticky dish that pairs perfectly with rice.
This recipe comes to us from Alissa Musto.
Serves 2
Ingredients:
- 1 8 oz. package firm tofu, press for 10-15 minutes
- Oil for sautéing
- 1/3 cup of barbecue sauce
- 1/3 cup of orange marmalade
- 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- Paprika, optional
Directions:
Press tofu to remove excess water by using a tofu press or this method for 10-15 minutes. Cut tofu into cubes, slices or triangles.
Heat oil over medium-high heat and sauté tofu on both sides until slightly browned. Sprinkle with paprika, if using.
Meanwhile, combine the BBQ sauce, soy sauce, and marmalade in a bowl to make the glaze.
Once the tofu is slightly browned, pour the glaze into the pan and let it sizzle alongside the tofu.
Top with sesame seeds and serve with your choice of rice.
