Koshari is an Egyptian dish made with macaroni noodles, lentils, rice, chickpeas, and spiced tomato sauce. This recipe is a crowd-pleaser and kids and parents alike will love it. This version uses whole-grain noodles and brown rice. Some spices are substituted since Bharat spice blend can be difficult to find. Enjoy this recipe for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients:
- 25-ounce jar of your favorite marinara sauce
- One cup of indigo lentils (soaked for a few hours)
- Half cup of chickpeas
- One bag of small whole wheat macaroni noodles
- 1/2 small onion, chopped
- 2 cups steamed brown rice
- Turmeric, garlic powder, Himalayan sea salt, paprika, and black pepper, to taste
Directions:
1. Prepare the rice and noodles according to directions on package.
2. Boil the lentils in two cups of water with the seasonings for 40 minutes. When finished drain and rinse with cold water.
3. In a wok or large pan combine and warm (on low) the rice, noodles and sauce and season to your liking.
4. Separately, sauté the onions and then add to the grains, along with the chickpeas.
5. Serve with your favorite organic greens and whole grain bread slices.
